Local Weather Update

14 Dec 2018 12:58 PM - Whitsunday Pet Resort

THE FOLLOWING  PROVIDES SOME USEFUL WEATHER INFORMATION & LINKS; THAT MAY ASSIST IN YOUR FUTURE ASSESSMENTS & TRAVEL PLANNING; IN THE APPROACH TO CHRISTMAS & BEYOND.

Firstly we just wish to reassure everyone that Whitsunday Pet Resort (WPR) is NOT currently subject to a Cyclone Watch or even part of a Warning Zone in relation to Tropical Cyclone OWEN. Currently TC OWEN is approx. 1500km + to our NW in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Ms June SCOTT, Bureau of Met.  advised at 12.30 (Qld Time) today 14/12/18, that Qld should expect"... the 300-400mm rain in a localised area around the tropical cyclone area".  Subject to change and further forecasting by the experts, there are some great links below that put some total rainfalls and expected wind gusts into perspective.  Sensibly aware that forecasts are exactly that forecasts,  we are expecting a few storms, a  few showers & associated wind gusts from a predicted Ex TC Owen, as it tracks SE.  All in all some good total rainfall.  All part and parcel of a North Queensland Wet Season :-)

Whitsunday Regional Council advises we are located in a DESIGNATED WHITE ZONE - i.e. "Extremely minor risk or no risk of inundation or isolation from a cyclone storm tide".

Regardless, WPR's prevention,  preparation and response for potential and actual natural disaster events errs on the side of caution and proactiveness.  It is based in part on the Whitsunday Region Emergency Action Guide 2017-2019 edition.   Our action plan/s are also based on many years of practical experience and formal training.  Relevant updates will ONLY occur on this website and NOT our facebook page.

Currently all pets are well,  and resting :-)  ##

## Any and all wellbeing and welfare checks on your VIP's should also be via email and NOT on our FB page.  We also thank you for your patience at this time and particularly during the Christmas New Year period.

Lastly please drive carefully and plan well ahead; as you drive according to current conditions.
